For almost ten years Eberhard Zangger has moderated panel discussions at various events. Often his role is to ensure complex, technical content is delivered in an accessible and entertaining way to the audience of experts. Among his discussion partners were the CIOs of UBS, Credit Suisse, Bank Julius Bär, ABB, Glencore, Roche, Novartis, Axpo and Evonik, and CEOs and European business managers from ABB, SAS, IBM and Microsoft. Many memorable situations have come out of these discussions, none of which were awkward for those taking part.
The foundation of successful moderation is invariably comprehensive preparation. Furthermore, in our opinion there are two relevant insights; firstly that the stage belongs only to the interviewee and that they should feel as comfortable as possible, and secondly that the audience wants to be informed and entertained at the same time.
The day-long “IT Strategy Forum on Lake Zurich 2011”, held by Boydak Management Consulting, consisted of two 45-minute panel discussions each with two to three participants. The entire event obtained a ‘very good’ rating from essentially all of the 80 senior management participants.
This is only one example for a panel discussion. Please contact us for more samples.
