Situation

As part of their annual retreat, the members of the law faculty at the University of Lucerne planned a professional media training that would extend over two half days.

Strategy

The dean proposed three legal topics of current interest for faculty members to choose from. One of the topics was the legal aspects of the circumcision of boys. The 22 participants were divided into three groups. An experienced journalist was assigned to each group.

Implementation

The first step was for the topics themselves and their most critical aspects to be discussed in each group. In the second step, the professors had to develop succinct messages in front of a camera. These performances were subsequently examined and jointly analyzed.

Result

Ample time, a convenient location, good equipment, and experienced coaches contributed to the success of this media training, which all participants regarded as beneficial and rewarding.
